The Serendipity Difference
Why Australian Travellers Choose Serendipity
Fazli Karabacak was born in Turkey, educated in Sydney, and has spent the last 25 years bridging both worlds. He holds a full Turkish Ministry of Tourism licence and has guided hundreds of Australian travellers through Turkey's most extraordinary archaeological and cultural sites. This isn't a large tour operator handing you off to a local subcontractor — Fazli leads every tour himself.
Australian-Educated, Turkish-Born
Fazli studied in Sydney and has lived between Australia and Turkey for over two decades. He understands exactly what Australian travellers expect — clear communication, punctuality, safety, and genuine warmth.
25 Years Guiding Australians
Since 2001, Fazli has guided hundreds of Australian travellers through Turkey. Many return for second and third tours. The majority of our bookings come from word-of-mouth referrals within the Australian travel community.
Small Groups, Big Difference
Our tours are capped at 8 travellers — not the 30–40 typical of large operators like Intrepid or Contiki. This means personal attention, flexibility, and access to sites without competing with bus groups.
Booking in Your Timezone
Enquiries, itinerary planning, and pre-trip communication are handled from our Sydney base. No midnight emails, no confusing timezone conversions, no language barriers.
Archaeological Depth
While most Turkey tours offer surface-level sightseeing, our itineraries are built around archaeological and cultural understanding. Fazli's university training in archaeology means you get expert context at every site.
Prices in AUD
Tour prices are quoted and payable in Australian dollars. No hidden currency conversion fees, no exchange rate surprises. What you see is what you pay.

What Travellers Say
Reviews from Australian Travellers
"We've travelled extensively but Fazli's tour was genuinely exceptional. As fellow Australians, it was wonderful to have a guide who understood our humour, our expectations, and our pace. The small group size made all the difference."

"I found Serendipity through a friend in Sydney who couldn't stop raving about her Turkey trip. Now I understand why. Fazli's knowledge of the archaeological sites is extraordinary, and the whole experience felt personal — not like a package tour at all."
Susan R.

"As a solo Australian traveller, I was nervous about Turkey. Fazli put me at ease immediately. His 25 years of experience showed in every detail — from the perfectly chosen restaurants to the way he timed our visits to avoid crowds."

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose an Australian-based Turkey tour operator?
Serendipity Tours is run by Fazli Karabacak, a Turkish-Australian guide educated in Sydney and licensed by Turkey's Ministry of Tourism. You get local Turkish expertise combined with the communication style, safety standards, and service expectations Australian travellers are accustomed to. All enquiries, bookings, and pre-trip planning are handled in your timezone.
What makes Serendipity Tours different from other Turkey tour companies?
Three things: group size (maximum 8 travellers, not 40), depth of expertise (Fazli has 25 years of guiding experience and university training in archaeology), and personal attention (Fazli leads every tour himself — you're not handed off to a subcontracted local guide). Our tours focus on Turkey's archaeological and cultural heritage, not just the tourist highlights.
How do I get to Turkey from Australia?
Turkish Airlines operates direct flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Istanbul (approximately 17–18 hours). Alternatively, you can fly via Singapore, Dubai, or Doha with a stopover. Once in Turkey, all domestic flights and ground transport are included in our tour packages.
Do I need a visa to visit Turkey as an Australian?
Yes. Australian citizens need an e-Visa, which can be obtained online at evisa.gov.tr in about 10 minutes. The multiple-entry visa costs approximately USD $60 and is valid for 90 days. We provide full visa guidance upon booking.
When is the best time for Australians to visit Turkey?
April to June and September to November offer the best weather for touring. These periods also align well with Australian autumn and spring school holidays. Our tour calendar is designed around optimal conditions at archaeological sites — avoiding the extreme heat of Turkish summers.
